Corsica is one of France's favorite destinations. While these magnificent beaches attract the crowds in summer, Corsica reveals itself in a different light in autumn and winter: more intimate, quieter but as beautiful as ever. Monte Cinto adorns its white coat, in the ovens we cook Corsican specialties based on chestnuts, and the weather, despite a drop in temperatures, remains mild.
Come and discover the Isle of Beauty in December.

Head for Corsica in December
Corsica, let's not forget, is a mountainous region. As winter approaches, the mountain massifs are covered in snow and the ski resorts open their doors. There are three of them:
- Val d’Ese (1,620 m - 1,750 m) with its 4 slopes (including cross-country skiing) at 40 min from Ajaccio
- Ghisoni (1,580 m - 1,870 m) with its 7 slopes
- Haut Asco (1,450 m): two 600-meter ski runs and two 100-meter beginner slopes.

If you want to take advantage of your stay in Corsica in December to discover splendid snow-covered landscapes, snowshoeing is just the thing. In fact, we recommend the Vizzavona forest, near Ajaccio. Its small hamlet will gladly welcome you with open arms, and you can sample the local specialities.
Fan of hiking and trekking in Corsica in winter, we suggest you set off to discover the Restonica, which offers a completely different setting with its frozen lakes in which the mountains of the gorges are reflected. On the Bonifacio side, the Aiguilles de Bavella are sure to dazzle you with their charm, as are the Spelunca gorges and the Aïtone forest.

What to visit in Corsica in December?
Calvi is ideal for starting your stay in Corsica in December. It's a town with a strong historical past, since the Calvais chose to remain loyal to the Republic of Genoa during the conflict pitting them against Pascal Paoli's Corsicans. Their motto "Civitas Calvi semper fidelis", literally "the city of Calvi always faithful" perfectly expresses the spirit of the town and its inhabitants.

Visiting Calvi in December
The town of Calvi offers a breathtaking sight with its Genoese citadel overlooking the bay. Stroll through the old town, with its charming cobbled streets and little stalls. After making your way to the pointe de la Revellata to see the lighthouse and its beaches, take the little path that leads you up into the heights, to the chapel of Notre Dame de la Serra. There, take your time to admire the sublime view, both of the bay and of the mountain ranges.

Monte D'oro
At the heart of the Corsica Regional Nature Park stands proudly the Monte D'oro, one of the island's main peaks. On its eastern slope lies the Vizzavona forest, which you can discover on a snowshoe walk: a change of scenery guaranteed with its luminous white landscapes.

Lake Mélo
Lake Mélo is located in the Restonica valley. The lake is frozen until the end of April and sometimes the paths are snow-covered, but the spectacle is breathtaking

Very warm welcome
Very well organized boarding and disembarkation, with attentive staff on board. The ship is very clean, featuring two dining areas and a decent bar, all staffed by very friendly personnel. The boat’s size means there are no crowds or long lines, making vehicle boarding and disembarkation quick and easy. The atmosphere is very family-friendly and intimate, much appreciated for being away from tourist crowds and large cruise ships!
