On La Méridionale ships, you can travel to Corsica with your dog. Accommodations are provided so that your pet can accompany you as you discover the Isle of Beauty.

Conditions for taking the ferry TO Corsica with your dog

To travel to Corsica with your dog on board La Méridionale ferry, the dog must be included in your reservation.

For hygiene and allergies reasons, and for everyone's comfort, no pets of any kind (dogs, cats, birds, hamsters...) are allowed in passenger areas such as cabins, lounges, bars, restaurants, or decks.

This rule does not apply to guide dogs and assistance dogs who are allowed to stay with their owners throughout the crossing.

In your vehicle or in the onboard kennel

To allow travelers and residents to reach Corsica with their dog, La Méridionale ferries serving Corsica, are equipped with an air-conditioned kennel. Your pet will be placed in a secure individual box. For the comfort of smaller animals, we recommend that you provide an adapted pet carrier which will be placed in the designated compartment. Please bring a €1 coin to lock your box, which you will get back upon departure.

Another option for traveling to Corsica with your dog on La Méridionale is to leave them in your vehicle, where they are most comfortable, making sure to open at least one of the windows slightly. It is strictly forbidden to leave your dog in the trunk. At the kennel or in your vehicle, remember to provide him with some water and food for the crossing.

During the crossing, you will not be able to visit your pet.

Travelling to Corsica with your category 1 or 2 dog

It is possible to go to Corsica with your dog regardless of its category. Our ferry company allows Category 1 dogs, provided they remain in their owner's car. Category 1 and Category 2 dogs must wear a muzzle during their stay on board.

To ensure that your pet's journey goes as smoothly as possible, a long walk before departure will help him relax. And to make sure you embark with peace of mind, check out our page on the documents you need to prepare for your crossing.

Some practical tips

  • Give your pet a light meal about 10 hours before departure.
  • For journeys under 12 hours, it's best to keep your pet fasting to reduce the risk of vomiting.
  • Walk and relax your pet before the crossing.
  • If your pet is easily anxious, you may give them medication prescribed by your veterinarian.
